Day at the Beach

After our 2nd day of school, the weather outside was really pleasant, and it looked like beach weather. Then a second after the thought, we heard thunder. We had deep dark blue clouds on one side of our house, and a gorgeous, beautiful sunshine filled day on the other. After the rain passed, we decided to head for the beach anyways, only to find a really low tide! I was thinking this wasn't going to be any fun, but it's amazing what kind of sea creatures and shells you find when it's like this. God supplied the sun and the fun for our beach day!

Ok, so it doesn't look real sunny, but this was taken before we left the beach, when it started to look stormy again.

During low tide, you will find alot of people looking for certain shells w/animals inside, for food. Here are a few kids helping out their parents, and then also enjoying the water and having fun.

Jess decided playing in the sand was more fun than wading through the muck and finding starfish/shells!



For some reason, this angle reminds me of when Jesse was little. I have a few shots of him in the same position playin' in the sand when he was 4 or 5 yrs. old.

Jamin is my marine biology guy. He loves starfishes. This particular day, he was picking the ones up that were too close to shore, and moving them to deeper water, so that they wouldn't die.

That is a 'live' starfish on his face! I was not thrilled for the placement of the starfish, but shot the picture anyways. By the way, the girl on his cap is not a girlfriend.....she was on our VSM team and bought him a cap to remember her by.

This was an eery looking starfish that wiggled its way around the shallow water.

Our first time to see one of these here also. I've been told it is a sea biscuit?

It's kinda blurry, but this black prickly sea creature is not something you want to mess with or accidentally step on!

Some form of sea plant....anyone have a name for it?




This poor little hermit crab bit the dust after we played with it for awhile. This is a pic of Jamin waiting for it to come out and play. It never did:) We gave a proper burial by tossing it back in the water.




Jamin was taking pictures with my new camera, and shot this one of Robert. I thought it was a great pic, except for the scraggly torn pieces of his hat. I tried to edit them out, but it would leave a dark stripe down his nose/eye. So I left it alone.
